Privacy Policy
The short version
- You can use Menu Planner 2 without an account. Then your data stays on your device.
- If you sign in and sync, your data is stored on my servers in Microsoft Azure so it can reach your other devices and your household.
- I don’t show ads, I don’t track you across other apps and websites, and I never sell your data.
Overview
Menu Planner 2 (“the App”) is made by InnovaDev, LLC, a one-person company. I’m the App’s developer, and “I”, “me” and “my” in this policy mean me and InnovaDev, LLC. It helps you plan meals and organize recipes, pantry items and shopping lists. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it’s used, where it’s stored and how it’s protected.
Information I collect
1. What you enter
The App stores what you create in it, such as:
- Recipes, ingredients, pantry items, meal plans, shopping lists, stores and aisles
- Photos you add to recipes and pantry items
- Profiles (names, pictures and nutrition goals), notes, ratings, prices and purchase history
- Text read from your camera or photos when you scan a recipe, a nutrition label or a barcode
- The location of a store, if you choose to set one
- Settings and preferences
If you use the App without an account, this stays on your device. If you sign in and sync is on, it is also stored on my servers so it can reach your other devices.
2. Your account
An account is optional. It’s needed for syncing between devices, cloud backup and household sharing. Sign-in is handled by Microsoft Entra External ID. You can sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, with Sign in with Apple, or with Google. I store:
- Your email address (if you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, I receive Apple’s private relay address instead)
- An account identifier from Microsoft Entra, Apple or Google
- The information needed to run your account, such as your subscription status and the devices that sync with it
I don’t receive or store a password. Apple and Google don’t share anything with me beyond what’s needed to sign you in.
3. Information collected automatically
To keep the App working and reliable, I may collect:
- Your device type, iOS version and App version, for example to tell you when an update is needed to keep syncing
- A notification token, so a change made on one device can reach your others
- A check from Apple’s App Attest service that requests come from a genuine copy of the App
- Crash reports, if you’ve chosen to share them with app developers in your device’s settings
The App doesn’t use advertising identifiers, doesn’t contain advertising or analytics SDKs, and doesn’t track you across other apps or websites.
4. Messages you send me
When you contact support from inside the App, I receive your email address and message. If you leave Include Technical Details on, I also receive your device type, versions and the App’s recent activity log. If you turn on Include Menu Planner 2 Data, I receive a copy of your App data so I can find the problem. I use these only to help you.
5. Storage on my servers
When you’re signed in with sync on, your data is:
- Encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Stored in Microsoft Azure (Azure SQL and Azure Blob Storage)
- Linked to your account, or to your household’s, so it can sync
I look at stored data only when that’s needed to give you support, fix technical problems or keep the service running. I do not sell or share your data with advertisers or marketing partners.
Online services the App uses
Some features look things up online. When you use them, only what’s needed for the lookup is sent:
- Food and barcode lookup — when you scan a barcode or tap Look Up Nutrition Online, the barcode or the words you search for are sent to my food database service.
- Image search — when you search for a picture for a recipe or pantry item, the words you search for are sent to image search providers (Google, Serper and Open Food Facts).
- Finding and importing recipes from the web — when you search for recipes, your search words are sent to Google. When you open or import a recipe page, the App loads that page from its website, as a browser would. Websites you visit in the App can set cookies, so sites you sign in to stay signed in. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
- Sharing links — when you share a list, plan or recipe as a Menu Planner 2 link, a copy is stored on my servers for 48 hours so the person you send it to can open it.
- Apple Intelligence and translation — tidying recipes, suggesting tags, writing summaries, reading recipes from photos and translating recipes run on your device using Apple’s built-in features. The App doesn’t send your data to me or to Apple for these features.
- Purchases — handled by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play. I receive confirmation of your purchase, not your payment details.
Device permissions
The App asks before using any of these, and you can say no or change your mind in the Settings app at any time. The rest of the App keeps working.
- Camera — to scan recipes, nutrition labels and barcodes, and to take photos.
- Photos — to add pictures to recipes and pantry items, or to read a recipe or label from a photo. You choose which photos.
- Location — to switch your shopping list to the store you’re at, and to set where a store is. Your location is read only while you’re using that feature, never in the background, and isn’t sent to me or stored. Only the location you set for a store is saved, with that store.
- Calendar — to add your meals to the Calendar app and keep them up to date. The App only changes the meal events it created, and doesn’t send your calendar to me.
- Microphone — to write down a recipe as you say it, using Apple’s speech recognition.
- Notifications — for meal reminders, recipe timers and the weekly planning reminder.
Households and sharing
If you start or join a household, everyone in it can see and change the household’s recipes, meal plans, shopping lists and pantry, and can see who is in the household and who added items to the shopping list. When you join, your own data isn’t shared with the household; it’s kept in your account and comes back if you leave. Only share a household with people you trust with this information.
The person who started a household can remove members. Anyone can leave at any time.
How I use your information
I use your information to:
- Provide the App’s features
- Sync and back up your data, and share it with your household when you choose to
- Sign you in and keep your account secure
- Send occasional news about Menu Planner 2 inside the App (shown under Messages)
- Answer your support requests and fix problems
- Improve the App’s reliability and performance
I never sell personal information, share data with advertising networks, or track you across other apps or websites.
Data security
I protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access-controlled Azure environments, secure sign-in and authorization, checks that requests come from the genuine App, and monitoring for system integrity. No system is perfectly secure, but I work continuously to keep your data safe.
Keeping and deleting your data
Deleting your account in the App
Open Profile & Settings, tap your email, then Advanced → Delete Account and All Data. This:
- Permanently deletes your account
- Permanently deletes your data stored on my servers and on that device
- Stops syncing and signs you out
This can’t be undone. If you’re in a household with other people, the household’s shared data stays with them. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription; cancel it in the Settings app first.
Data on your device
Without sync, your data is kept only on your device (and in your device’s own backups). Deleting the App deletes it.
Support messages
I keep support messages, and any technical details or data you chose to include, only as long as needed to help you.
Children’s privacy
Menu Planner 2 is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children or try to identify young users. A parent can use the in-app Delete Account option, or contact me, to remove an account’s data.
Your choices
- Use the App without an account
- Turn sync off, or sign out, at any time
- Decline or change camera, photos, location, calendar, microphone and notification permissions
- Edit or delete anything you’ve entered
- Export all your recipes to a file
- Leave a household
- Delete your account and cloud data from inside the App
- Contact me for help with any of the above
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy as Menu Planner 2 changes. I’ll post updates here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the App.
