If the original Menu Planner app is on the same device, Menu Planner 2 can bring your recipes, pantry foods, meal plans, shopping list, meal types, stores, tags, templates and profiles across. Nothing in the original app is changed.

Menu Planner 2 offers to do this the first time you open it. If you’re signed in, it goes into your account and to your other devices. If not, it stays on this device until you sign in.

If you tapped Not Now, tap Have the original Menu Planner? Bring over your recipes and meal plans on the Get Started card on Home, if it’s there. Or tap your picture at the top left, then Settings, and under Import & Export tap Bring Over Original Menu Planner Data. Then tap Bring It Over. That row only shows when the original app, with your recipes and plans, is on this device.

If Menu Planner 2 already has recipes or plans, you choose. Add to What’s Here keeps everything you have: recipes, foods, stores and tags with the same name aren’t added twice, and a meal you’d already planned for the same day gets the original app’s food added to it. Replace Everything removes what’s in Menu Planner 2 first — on all your devices if you’re signed in, which needs an internet connection. It can’t be undone.

  • Keep the app open until it says All Done. Your screen stays on while it works. If it’s closed part way, the next time you open Menu Planner 2 it offers to finish, and nothing is added twice.
  • Recipe photos come across if the original Menu Planner backed them up online. They come last and need an internet connection.
  • For recipes with a link to a website and no photo, tap Get Photos from Recipe Websites when the import is done. The same button is under Import & Export in Settings, for all your recipes at any time.
  • If some photos didn’t come across, tap Get These Photos there.

Bringing everything over again later only adds what’s missing.
