One meal at a time: open the day, tap ••• beside a meal’s name and choose Add to Calendar (it shows once the meal has food or a note). A new event opens with the meal filled in; tap the checkmark (or Add) to add it. This copy doesn’t change if you change the meal later. If you add the same meal again from this device, you’re asked first, so you don’t end up with two by mistake.
Your whole plan, kept up to date (Premium):
- Open Settings → Calendar.
- Turn on Show Meals in Calendar.
- Tap Allow Full Access when you’re asked.
Your meals from a week ago to 4 weeks ahead go in a calendar called Meals, and change when your plan does. Everyone’s meals are included: one event for each meal, with everyone’s food in it. A meal type with a Target Time (in Settings → Meal Types) shows at that time; the others show as all-day. Tap Add Meals To (Main Calendar when you have more than one profile) to use a different calendar instead. While it’s on, a meal’s ••• has Show in Calendar instead of Add to Calendar, which opens the Calendar app on that day.
You only need this on one device: the calendar shows on your other devices through iCloud. If another of your devices already keeps it up to date, Settings → Calendar says which one, and Use This iPhone Instead (or iPad) moves the job to this device with the same choices.
To let family see your meals, share the calendar from the Calendar app. A Google or Outlook calendar works too if that account is added to your iPhone’s Calendar app.
Planning for more than one person? Under Each Person’s Meals, tap someone and choose where their meals go: the Main Calendar with everyone else’s, their own calendar (called Meals and their name), or Don’t Show. Share someone’s own calendar with just them from the Calendar app — tap Calendars, tap the info button next to it, then Add Person — and they see only their meals. A calendar kept only on this device can’t be shared, so choose one in your iCloud account. A Google or Outlook calendar is shared from that account instead.
Changes you make to these meals in the Calendar app are replaced the next time your plan changes, so change the meal in Menu Planner 2 instead. When you turn Show Meals in Calendar off, you can remove the meals or leave them there.
