Meal types are the meals in your day, like Breakfast, Lunch or Kids’ Dinner, and you name them yourself. To manage them, open Settings → Meal Types. Or, in a day, tap Day Options (•••) → Add Meal Types…, then the pencil at the top and Meal Types. Tap + to add one, or tap one to change it. Tap the checkmark (or Done) to save.
You can also edit a meal type from a day: tap ••• beside a meal’s name and choose Edit Meal Type.
Pick a color for each; Dark Mode gets a matching lighter shade unless you turn off Match Dark Mode Automatically. Turn on Target Time to give a meal type a time: its meals are put in order by that time, and it can remind you when to start cooking. Leave it off for a meal you eat at any time. Turn off Count in Nutrition Totals for meal types that shouldn’t count toward the day’s nutrition, such as a meal you plan for someone else.
Don’t use one any more? Swipe it and tap Hide (or turn on Hide from Add Meal in it). Its planned meals stay, but it isn’t offered for new meals. When some meal types haven’t been used in 3 months, the top of the list offers Hide Unused to hide them all, or Review to see which they are. To bring one back, tap the Hidden heading at the bottom of the list (it shows how many are hidden), then swipe the meal type and tap Show.
Deleting a meal type (swipe it and tap Delete) also deletes every meal planned with it, so hiding is usually better.
To move a planned meal to another meal type, tap ••• beside it and choose Change Meal Type.
