While editing a recipe, tap Clean Up above the Directions, or the Clean Up button above the keyboard when typing ingredients in Text. It tidies messy imported text, such as stray step numbers, bullets and blank or split lines. With Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 or later) it can fix more, and fill in empty prep, cook and oven times it finds in the steps.

Afterwards it says how many lines were removed or changed. Tap See Changes to see them, and Put Back to return a removed line to the end of the text. The undo arrow beside Clean Up puts your text back as it was.

Apple Intelligence also writes a short summary for recipes that don’t have one, shown on the recipe’s photo. Settings → Apple Intelligence turns Recipe Summaries off or on and sets the Summary Style. It all runs on your device.
