On iOS 26 or later, a finished timer rings as an alarm, like a timer in the Clock app, so silent mode and Focus don’t stop it. If you didn’t allow alarms, or on an earlier version of iOS, it comes as a notification instead, and a notification can be kept quiet.

To find Menu Planner 2’s settings, open the Settings app and tap Apps, then Menu Planner 2. On iOS 17, scroll down to Menu Planner 2 instead.

  • Alarms are off: on iOS 26 or later, turn on Alarms in Menu Planner 2’s settings.
  • Notifications are off: in Menu Planner 2’s settings, tap Notifications and turn on Allow Notifications and Sounds. If you see Immediate Delivery, choose it. The first time you start a timer while they’re off, Menu Planner 2 tells you, with a button that opens these settings.
  • Silent mode: a notification makes no sound while your phone is on silent, so turn silent mode off. An alarm rings anyway.
  • Focus or Do Not Disturb: a timer’s notification gets through a Focus as long as Time Sensitive Notifications is on in Menu Planner 2’s notification settings, and the Focus allows time-sensitive notifications (under Focus in the Settings app). Or turn the Focus off in Control Center.
  • Volume is down: in the Settings app, tap Sounds & Haptics and drag the volume slider up.

While Menu Planner 2 is open, a finished timer also shows as done on the recipe, in Cook Mode and on Home.
