Linked ingredients count toward the recipe’s nutrition, can go on your shopping list, and show what’s already in your kitchen.
In the recipe’s ingredients, tap a line, then tap the item shown under it to change what it’s linked to, or use Review to go through the ones that aren’t linked. Pick a Suggested item, search your pantry, or tap Add “…” to my pantry. For something you don’t need to track — water, a pinch of salt — choose Keep as text in this recipe only.
To link many lines at once, tap Accept Suggested Matches in the banner above the ingredients. Suggested Matches lists each line with the pantry item it would be linked to, all checked. Tap any that are wrong to take their check off, then tap the checkmark (or Link 5 Ingredients, with your number).
The lines you linked are highlighted for a moment, and a note at the bottom says how many were linked: tap Undo there to put them back as they were. Lines you took the check off stay in the banner, ready to review.
On the recipe, each line shows its amount in bold. When a line is linked to a pantry item, the item’s name takes the place of the ingredient’s words, so you can see what it counts as: “1 cup milk” linked to Milk, Low-fat 1% reads “1 cup Milk, Low-fat 1%”. When the ingredient’s words can’t be picked out of the line, the item’s name is shown in grey after it instead. In the recipe editor, the line stays as you wrote it.
Touch and hold a line on the recipe and tap Edit to change the pantry item it’s linked to. To link the line to a different item, edit the recipe.
