Open a recipe and tap Start Cooking, below the recipe’s name and details (it’s there once the recipe has directions). Cook Mode shows the recipe one step at a time in large type, and your screen stays on.
- Get Ready comes first: everything you’ll need, so you can get it all out. You can change the servings here too. If you checked off ingredients last time, tap Uncheck All. Tap Start Cooking at the bottom to begin.
- Each step shows the ingredients it uses under For this step, with the amounts for your servings. Check each one off as you add it. Not checked off yet holds the rest, in case a step calls an ingredient by another name.
- Tap an underlined ingredient in a step to see how much to use, or an underlined time to start its timer.
- Next Step and Back are at the bottom, with the start of the next step above them, or swipe left and right. On the last step, tap Finish.
- Tap a step’s timer to start it; you can have several going at once. Timers from other steps and other recipes stay at the top of the screen. Tap one of this recipe’s to go back to its step, use its pause button to pause it, or tap Stop when it’s done.
- The Text Size button at the top right (two letter A’s) opens a slider that makes the text bigger. It only changes Cook Mode. The list button beside it shows all the ingredients.
- All done! comes after the last step. Rate the recipe under How did it turn out? and, if you keep count of your food, tap Made It. Back to Recipe closes Cook Mode.
Tap ✕ at the top left to close Cook Mode at any time. The recipe remembers the step you were on, and its button says Continue Cooking with the step number. That’s kept for the last recipe you cooked.
