On the Kitchen tab, tap a recipe to open it. Its photo fills the top of the screen — or a drawing, if it has no photo — and stays put while the rest of the recipe scrolls up over it.

On the photo, under the recipe’s name:

  • Where it’s from. Tap a website’s name to open the page.
  • The stars and the heart, to rate it and make it a favorite.
  • Prep time, cook time and oven temperature, and how many servings it makes.
  • Leftovers, when you’ve kept some with Made It.
  • Its tags.
  • Start Cooking, once it has directions.
  • Its summary: one you wrote, one that came with the recipe, or one Apple Intelligence wrote.

Below the photo are Ingredients, Directions, Notes and At a Glance. At a Glance says when the recipe was last on your meal plan and how many times in all, when it’s planned next and, if you keep count of your food, how many of the ingredients you count are on hand.

On iPad, the ingredients sit beside the directions, with a third column in landscape. A Nutrition card shows calories and more for one serving, and it, Notes and At a Glance fill in below the shortest column.

Along the top are the recipe’s actions: Add to Meal Plan, Meal Plan History, Made It…, Nutrition, Make a Copy, printing and sharing. If you don’t see one, tap More (•••) first. Some only show when they apply. The list button adds the ingredients to your shopping list, and the pencil button (Edit) changes the recipe.

At the largest text sizes, the details move off the photo so the bigger text has room.
