Edit the recipe and tap Ingredients. Put in a whole list of ingredients at once — typed, scanned, pasted or dictated — one ingredient per line. A line like “2 cups flour, sifted” is read as the amount, the unit, the ingredient and extra details. Ranges (“2–3 tablespoons”), cans and packages (“1 (15 oz) can black beans”), counts (“3 cloves garlic”) and notes such as “to taste” or “or butter” are understood too.
A line whose ingredient has exactly the name of one of your pantry items is linked to it straight away. For the others, Menu Planner 2 suggests the closest pantry item: the one that shares the most words, with the items you use most, and the ones you’ve linked those words to before, first.
Lines that aren’t linked yet are counted in a banner above the list. Tap Review to go through them one at a time, or Accept Suggested Matches to check Menu Planner 2’s suggestions and link them all at once. A line you don’t review is saved as text in the recipe, never linked to a guess.
Switch between List and Text at the top. In Text, end a line with a colon — “Sauce:” — to make a heading. In List, tap a line to change it, swipe left on it to delete it, and use Add Ingredient and Add Heading at the bottom. To change the order, tap Reorder at the top (on iPad, the up-and-down arrows button), drag the lines into place, then tap Done (on iPad, the checkmark).
